Partnering Sekonda with LAMP to raise mental health awareness

During Stress Awareness April 2022, Sekonda was looking for creative ways to promote healthy living, it made sense to put them in touch with our charity partner (LAMP) and run an Instagram Takeover.

Sekonda is one of the UK’s most known watch brands, recently undergoing massive re-branding with a new strapline ‘No Time For Nonsense’. I’ve been working on the account for numerous months, firstly as a support role and then in an account management position alongside a director.

A bit of background

Stress Awareness Month was a topic we’d pinpointed as a cultural moment we’d like to have a voice on - especially as Sekonda is encouraging people to get active on a daily basis and fulfill those quick wins.

Cite have a charity partner called LAMP, who are a Leicestershire based mental health charity. We’ve done a lot of fundraising for them in the past, and this was an excellent opportunity to connect our client and partners together for a mutual benefit, and one that’ll benefit thousands of people on social too.

Making it work

The plan was simple, run an Instagram takeover where members of the LAMP team will answer questions from Sekonda’s audience around stress, wellbeing and mental health.

We set up a meeting with LAMP and Sekonda ran through the deliverables and set a timescale. To be more efficient, we asked the questions via stories in advance and scheduled in time for LAMP to answer in advance. It all came together very quickly, and we took the reigns to ensure it was done on time and to budget.

How did it go?

It went down brilliantly!

In a press release released by LAMP afterward, I said;

“As members of Lamp’s Business Club, we’ve been helping Lamp with fundraising and raising awareness for mental health in the workplace for the last few months. It’s a cause that’s hugely important to our team and we’re keen to help in as many ways as possible, especially when we can connect the charity with our clients. With Sekonda pushing the importance of Stress Awareness Month, it made sense to pair them with Lamp for an Instagram Takeover – especially with Sekonda being based in Leicester. We’re really pleased with the end result.”

Rosie Curtis, Brand Manager @ Sekonda said,

“We want to use our social channels to raise awareness of important topics such as mental health, so handing them over to the experts at Lamp to run a Q&A was a great way for us to support Stress Awareness Month. A big thank you to our team at Cite and Lamp for all the work behind the scenes to make the takeover happen.”

And LAMP added:

“We were delighted to work with Sekonda on this Instagram takeover and answer questions to try and help people whose mental health is suffering due to stress. By emphasising the importance of mental health and reaching out for help, Sekonda is highlighting the many ways in which Lamp can help so we’re grateful that Sekonda recognises our value and hope to continue this relationship for the benefit of our community.”

It’s always fun being able to give our clients awesome opportunities to collaborate! This was one of many fun things we’ve done with Sekonda lately, that also makes a difference to people’s lives.
