Nottingham Digital Summit!

I really enjoyed Hallam’s Nottingham Digital Summit last Friday. Taking time out to get inspired is SO underrated. For anybody who couldn’t make it, here are my highlights from the event:

Duarte Garrido from Coca-Cola HBC discussed the new importance of adding value to your brand. It was one of the most interesting conversations, and one I strongly agree with. Having a purpose is one of the most important selling points in 2022 (and beyond) as the position & role of brands in the world has changed dramatically. Selling our brands as a cause, and not just a product, is definitely the way forward and the way a lot of younger people buy into and become repeat customers of brands.

Google explained a variety of cool things. Damn, I wish I was as cool as a #noogler. My favourite talk was around the future of content marketing. Google are moving away from the “rank 1” mentality, and increasingly focusing on personalisation. It’s a positive move in my opinion - but it will require a change in mindset for all of us who are writing content regularly, but also clients when reporting on metrics.

Julio Taylor, CEO of Hallam, reminded us that we’re bombarded with decisions everyday and human attention is truly the most valuable resource in the world. I loved the neon light analogy, "if everybody is a neon light, nothing is a neon light". Can’t believe we spend 82 hours a week consumed with content. It definitely makes you step back and get creative with your campaigns!

Thanks Cite for sending us & Hallam for putting on an awesome event. Can’t wait to put this inspo to good use! 🤓
