Why did I join 1% For The Planet?

1% For The Planet are an internationally respected and registered non-profit organisation that "bring dollars and doers together to accelerate smart environmental giving".

They allow businesses and individuals to identify environmental organisations that will make the best impact, align with how they think and then donate straight to them.

Founded in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, their passion of tackling the most important issues around the world only grows evermore strong as our planet continues to face more deadly environmental danger. Their variety of trusted nonprofits in food, land, pollution, water, wildlife and climate fight to make the world a healthier place.

So, why did I decide to join?

I want to help the environment and promote my values within the industry, and also show other individuals they can help too. By joining this organisation, I pledge to donate 1% of my salary on an annual basis to a selected charity. This will help develop and fund projects they are currently working on, therefore leading to a healthier planet.

What charity am I supporting?

I've decided to support a London-based charity called 10:10, which work together all across the UK to fight against climate change. I believe that to preserve the environment for the next generation then we must tackle the root of the causes - climate change. It is causing floods, severe temperature change and damaging weather across the globe. And that's just the tip of the iceberg - literally.

10:10 explains:

โ€œWe run positive, practical projects focused on tackling climate change at the community level, and turn these local actions into a force for bigger changes.โ€
